Where to buy Non Alcoholic Beverages in Manhattan

Whether you live in Manhattan or you’re just visiting NYC, if you’re looking for a place to find non alcoholic beverages, look no further than Spirited Away, downtown. It’s actually America’s first booze free bottle shop. Basically the trendsetter for other booze free bottle shops across the US. If you’ve never been to one, this is an experience not to be missed for my sober friends.

At Spirited Away you’ll find everything from non alcoholic beers & wines to non alcoholic liquors and ready to go (premixed) mocktails in bottles & cans. After 3 + months in London and Europe this spring, I came home and couldn’t wait to start my instagram series Fauxtail Friday and get my hands on a ton of non alcoholic beverages. To my suprise, I found out that my local shop, Boisson, on the upper east side, had shut down while I was in Europe!

I knew that there had to be an alternative, and that’s when I discovered Spirited away, so obviously I headed downtown the next day! I dont’ know about you, but me walking into a non alcoholic bottle shop is literally like a kid in a candy shop. When I got sober, 10+ years ago, there were almost NO non alcoholic options. The options were legitimately O’Douls & a friend told me about a non alcoholic wine brand called, Fre. That was it.

To see how far the industry has come since then, is just incredible! I think it’s SUCH a fantastic time for anyone who is sober curious or wants to get sober. In fact, I’m the first to admit, that to some level, I credit non alcoholic beverages with my early sobriety. In my early days, I worked in the restaurant business and it was a DEEP part of the culture to go out with coworkers after work, grab some drinks and blow off some steam. That was a hard habit to break, especially after a fast paced night at work, so instead I chose an NA option (at the time O’Douls) & continued that tradition, until I eventually dropped that habit & later left the restaurant business.

Back then, I was judged heavily by people in AA b/c they told me O’Douls had .5% alcohol and I wasn’t truly sober. Luckily, I was surrounded by people who told me that wasn’t true and to do what was working for me, to stay sober. So if you want a mocktail or a non alcoholic beverage, I’m your girl. Go for it! You don’t have to quit drinking and give up the drinks! It’s absolutely incredible how much things have changed since 2014!!

As for Spirited Away, there are so many incredible choices, and the staff is SO helpful. They’ll share everything from their personal faves, to the stores’s most popular options and flavor profiles. Trust me, it’s worth a trip!

Spirited Away is located at 177 Mott St. in Manhattan. Let me know what you think!
