I can’t believe it’s December! This year has definitely been an interesting one (I think we can all agree on that)!!! I know this month can get crazy for a lot of us with so many things to do so I’m going to try to share things through the month to help you out. Recipes, gift ideas, positive thoughts…those type of things! Also, do you follow me on Instagram? If you don’t I’d love for you to start because I share things there too.
For those who don’t follow me on Instagram you missed some exciting news I shared yesterday. I became a Beautycounter consultant! For those who aren’t familiar with Beautycounter, it is a clean beauty and skincare company that prides itself on producing clean, safe makeup and skincare that is good for our skin! I first tried a few of their products last year and was really happy with the results the products gave. I thought about joining their company for a few months and finally decided to take the plunge. I love learning about makeup and skincare and so I’m looking forward to learning more about the products. I’m excited to share this journey with you. So far the products I’ve tried I really have liked. I wanted to share with you the first product I tried from Beautycounter (and the reason I decided to try more!)
Overnight Resurfacing Peel-this is an award winning treatment peel that you apply at night and it helps with skin texture and skin clarity while you sleep! It’s not drying and the next morning my skin feels soooo soft! I use it every other night and have been really happy with the way it makes my skin look and feel. I’ll share more soon, but I wanted to first share what peaked my interest. Have you tried Beautycounter? If so please tell me what your favorite product is so I can give it a try if I haven’t already. If you’re interested in making a purchase or learning more, click on the Beautycounter link to head to my website to learn more.
I’ve been going through my pins on Pinterest on trying to update and add to my Christmas Recipe pins so I can find everything I want in one place. I’ve realized the more organized I am the less stress I become! Do you follow me on Pinterest? If not you should:) I add my recipes that I share here there too so you can easily find them. I’m putting the finishing touches on a recipe now and plan to share it later this week so don’t forget to check back.
My holiday shopping is staring off good, what about yours? I usually don’t start shopping until after Thanksgiving and this year was no different. I’m going to be putting together a few gift guides to share with you soon. Is there anything you need help finding? If so let me know in the comments and I’d be glad to help!
Another week closer to Thanksgiving and I wanted to share a recipe that I starting making a few years ago. I love that I can make this the night before Thanksgiving and just heat it up when it gets close to dinner. One less thing to worry about on Thanksgiving and a few less dishes to clean after dinner (that’s a win, win for me)! This recipe calls for cream cheese and sour cream that helps give the mashed potatoes a wonderful rich and creamy texture and taste.
Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes
5 lbs potatoes (I prefer Russets or Yukon Gold)
2-3 oz. packages cream cheese
1-8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. milk
8 Tbsp. butter, softened and sliced
2 tsp. onion salt
Garnish with parsley if desired
Peel potatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes. Cook in boiling water 20-30 minutes or until tender; drain and put into large mixing bowl. Add softened cream cheese, sour cream, 4 Tbsp. butter and milk and beat at medium speed until smooth (do not overbeat). Spoon into a greased 9×13 baking dish and top with remaining 4 Tbsp. butter. Cover and refrigerated until ready to bake. Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes and then bake at 325 or 50 min. or until thoroughly heated. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
First let me apologize for the lack of posts I’ve had. I needed to take a break and refocus what I want my blog to be. I’m feeling refreshed and full of ideas I want to share so please hang in there….cause I’m back:)
I love the beginning of a new month. It is sort of a “reboot” to refocus what I want to accomplish, improve or even stop doing. I wanted to share my goals for August and I’d love to know what your goals are too.
Excercise. This summer I’ve gotten WAY off track with working out and I realize that I feel better (both inside and out) when I exercise. I have no excuses or anyone else to blame but myself. I’m getting back to it starting today; whether it’s going to the gym or taking a walk around the neighborhood I’m forcing myself to do it and in no time it will again be part of my routine and not something I’m forcing myself to do.
Meal Planning. I don’t know about you, but I get the “what’s for dinner?” question by noon just about every day and I get annoyed by it. Annoyed because I’ve gotten out of my routine of planning my dinners out ahead of time and putting off going to the grocery store with a list and instead running in to grab just a few things to make dinner that night. I admit I really dislike going to the grocery store (anybody else with me???), but the “I’ll just run in without a list and grab a few things” has to stop!! I not only feel really unorganized, but I end of spending more money since I don’t have a list or preplanned meal ideas. This morning I made a grocery list and let me tell you…my shopping trip was much easier (the Starbucks I grabbed beforehand didn’t hurt either!!!).
Taking care of my nails. I know, this might sound really silly to some but my nails are in need of TLC-big time!!! My cuticles need some help and a coat of polish always makes me feel more put together so that’s my plan for tomorrow.
Well, there you have it! 3 goals that I have for the month. All of these should be pretty easy to complete…fingers crossed! Let me know what goals you have for the month, I’d love to know what they are.
