Happy New Year! I (like so many) are very happy to see 2021. I know 2020 was a very difficult year for so many and the beginning of a new year brings hope and positivity that I think everyone can use!
I wanted to share what I hope to improve on in the new year. I don’t like to call them “resolutions”…let’s call them goals instead! Do you make goals for the new year? I always worry about actually typing out my goals and then not following thru on them and being disappointed in myself….but here go’s nothing!!
- I want to start eating healthier. These past few months of curbside dinners and desserts have really caught up with me. I recently turned 43 (eeek!!) and my metabolism is definitely not what it use to be. I need to start making healthier choices and listening to my body. This past week I’ve really tried to be more aware of my food choices and its amazing how I’ve noticed a difference in the way I feel (physically and mentally). Eating healthier for me needs to be a lifestyle change, not a diet. I’m trying to be more mindful about my choices and I think this will be something that everyone in my family will benefit from too.
- I want to start being more active. I admit when the weather turns cold my desire to get out and walk in the morning fades, but I need to either find an alternative or learn to deal with it! I prefer to walk outside rather than go to the gym, but I need to get over it. We pay for a family gym membership and I have no excuses to not use it. I’m mad at myself as I even typed out that sentence…I pay for a gym membership and don’t go!!!! Ok, that has to change. I’ve always felt uncomfortable going to the gym to work out (what if I don’t know how to work a machine is always what I thought), but I’m going to move past it and just do it. (Having my husband or daughters with me should help too!)
- I want to take better care of my nails. Yes, I know it seems like a easy thing to do, but my nails and I have a love/hate relationship. I go through periods were I take great care of them; they are long and painted all the time, but as soon as one breaks I pick on them until they all break and my nails are nonexistent!!! I need to stop doing that!
- I want to read more. I really enjoy reading and I wish I did it more. I have so many books that I’ve taking pictures of and wanted to read, but then I just watch tv at night instead. I’m going to work on turning off the tv at night while I’m laying in bed and reading instead…this will be a hard on for me, but I’m really going to try to make it a priority.
Ok, those are my goals for 2021. I’m going to really make an effort to achieve all of my goals, not just for myself, but for my family. I’ve learned a lot about myself in 2020, but one of the main things I learning is that life is short and we need to surround ourselves with people who make us feel good about ourselves. My family makes me happy, they make me laugh, they make me cry, they make me want to be the best version of myself and my goals will only make me better-both physically and mentally.
